I love working with vintage farmhouse tin. It is

so beautifully aged and has marvelous depth and texture.

 I have used a 6" x 6" square for this tribute to

Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. Frida was a brilliant painter

and a strong, unique woman. She lived life on her

own terms. I find her a source of great inspiration.

In this piece I have combined my love of the sea

and great admiration for Frida by transforming one

 of her self-portraits into a beautiful mermaid.

I used beads, glittered fronds and sea fauna,

abalone chips, gilded wings, a hand-carved

Day of the Dead skeleton skull with a golden crown

and vintage wallpaper.
